On August 17, 2020 the Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of A. F. and A. M. of Canada in the Province of Ontario M. W. Bro. David J. Cameron sent a letter to the brethren providing an update on the Covid-19 Pandemic. He states that by staying home our province has flattened the curve and probably gotten through the first wave of COVID-19. He stresses that the virus is not gone and that we must continue to be wary of closed spaces, crowded places and close contact.
Some jurisdictions are going ahead and hoping no one dies. Others like Scotland have simply called off meetings until January 2021. Taking into account the conditions in our province and our neighbours and our underlying philosophy of thinking of the health and safety of our brethren first he has taken a more balanced approach.
The cancellation of all Masonic meetings and events in the Province has been extended until AT LEAST OCTOBER 31, 2020. We will continue to monitor and adjust as the situation evolves.
It is suggested that while waiting to re-open, lodges have virtual education sessions on their regular lodge night. Grand Lodge will be setting up GoTo Meeting accounts for each district. Our DDGM will then set up a schedule for each lodge to use it in turn.
In closing he asks that we stay healthy and remain concerned about the health of those around you.
