Hamilton District B donation to Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre

Today, I had the honour of presenting a cheque for $16,600.00 to the Juravinski Cancer Centre representing the generous donations made by individual members and lodges of the Hamilton B District. To say the least, I was very proud to highlight the efforts of the district during the 2019-2021 Masonic year, with much of it during a pandemic lockdown.
The total donation included donations made through the Masonic Foundation of Ontario; Juravinski Illuminight; and direct donations to Juravinski Cancer Centre on behalf of the District. Thank you to everyone for your generosity and support of this project. I was advised the funds will be used to offset the costs of a new “cyber knife” - a precision tool used to microscopically pinpoint where the radiation treatments are to be applied. It is primarily used in treating brain and prostate cancers.
A big thank you to W. Bro. Mathew Milne for his skills and efforts in organizing a couple of the fundraising events/programs that added to the project coffers (Evening with Matt Dusk & Grumpy Past Masters’ Beer).
Also, thank you to Vanessa Sheppard, Juravinski Foundation for arranging the presentation and to R.W. Bro. Sean A. Straughan, District Deputy Grand Master - Hamilton B District for attending (both captured in the photograph).
